Persona Connect: Blocking Unwanted calls

Company-Wide Call Blocking

The Company-Wide Call Blocking feature introduces the ability to block numbers company-wide (for all users), as opposed to blocking the call for a specific user. This prevents specific numbers from calling the entire organization. The Blocked Numbers button can be found on the Call History page in the Portal

 

Limitations

  • The Blocked Number list must contain less than 500 Numbers
  • The number dialed must be pointed to a User, Call Queue or Auto Attendant for this feature to work. If the number dialed is routed to a different treatment option the calls will NOT be blocked.


     
 

 


Blocking a Number

Blocking a number can be done a couple of ways. Let's start with the Blocked Numbers button in Call History.

Navigate to the “Call History” icon at the top and select the “Blocked Numbers” button shown below.

Next we will get this popup module where you will want to enter the 10 Digit number to be blocked.

Select Done! 

Now this number will be rejected the next time it calls in.


Importing Blocked Numbers

In the Blocked Numbers module select the import button at the bottom.

Now you will see a button to “Download Template” which will give you the format needed to import the blocked numbers.

The import document is a single column with a header of “Phonenumber” this header must be on the column or the numbers will not import. Below is an example format.

Once you have the file completed, We can import it to the system. Click Browse and select the file on your computer, Then select "Upload" and you will get a green popup showing you how many numbers were added.


Blocking a Number in Call History

To block numbers that have already called into your system you can simply click on the block number icon to the right of the call and confirm you wish the number to be blocked.


Once the number has been blocked, the icon next to the call will switch to a red circle with a line through it as shown below. This icon can be select to “Unblock” the number as well. Also the “From” field will show the red circle indicating the call has been blocked.


User Call Blocking

User call blocking allows the phone number to be blocked for just that user. This can be done in Answering rules shown in our Persona Connect: (User) Portal Guide under “Allow and Block Phone Numbers”

However in the Call History section for the User there is now a Blocked Numbers button in there to make this a little easier. The same instructions above apply to the user level call blocking. The only difference is that if the number calls another user on the system it will not be blocked for that user and you would want to use the Company Wide call blocking to acheive that result.
